TUESDAY NIGHT RESULTS – WIN!!

Slaton – 9
Roosevelt – 6

The Tigerettes wrapped up their district schedule with a come from behind win against Roosevelt to clinch 3rd place in district. Roosevelt jumped out to a 4 run lead in the top of the 1st off of 3 errors by the Tigerettes, Slaton answered back with 1 run in the bottom of the 1st on a sacrifice fly by Mireya Hernandez. Roosevelt scored 1 more run in the top of the 3rd to make their lead 5-1. In the bottom of the 4th, Malory Cofield got on with a single with 2 outs, Clarissa Zapata and Leslie Escobar both followed with singles of their own to load the bases for Jada Coronado who came up with the big hit of the game as she hit a Grand Slam to right center to tie the game up. Slaton gave up 1 more run in the top of the 6th to give the lead back up, down 6-5. The Tigerettes responded though with 4 runs of their own in the bottom of the 6th, Mireya had a RBI double to tie the game back up, Caitlyn Torres had an RBI single to give the Tigerettes the lead, then Jayden Luera had a 2 RBI single to add some insurance runs. Malory slammed the door on Roosevelt in the 7th with 2 ground balls and a fly ball to center for a quick inning. I was very proud of how the girls stayed positive and kept fighting even though they were down for most of the game, good things happen to those who play the game hard, and it paid off for our girls with an exciting win.
