Grant Awards in the amount of $1000 each were given to Mercy Manna, Meals on Wheels, the Weekend Sack Program, and the Harvey House from the Mercy Ministries Slaton Area Endowment (MMSAE). Thursday night marked the beginning of a legacy for the community of Slaton. A celebration was held at the First Baptist Church Activity Center to congratulate local winners of grant awards. The local endowment program, an affiliate of Lubbock Area Foundation, distributed its first round of checks to much needed organizations that make Slaton a comfortable-friendly place to live. The goal is to have annual distribution of funds to organization in the community on a yearly basis through a simple grant submission process.
Mark Meurer, MMSAE chairman, handed out the checks
