Fueled by a 2 Run Home-run by Josh Salazar to get the offense started in the bottom of the 1st inning Friday, the Tiger Baseball team got up early and never backed off of the Denver City Mustangs en route to an 11-1 victory in 6 innings.
By the end of the 2nd inning the Tigers were up 6-1, and held off multiple attempts to answer back by the Mustangs.
Slaton put up 4 more runs in the 4th inning to bring the score to 10-1. After Mingo Bernal was walked to reach base in the bottom of the 6th inning, Sergio Uvalle hit a line drive to right field to bring Bernal home, and end the game via the 10 run “mercy rule”.
Helping the Tigers hold the Mustangs to the 1 run game was the pitching effort by Abraham Jaramillo, who recorded 7 strikeouts over the course of the full game pitched.
The Tiger Baseball team is now 3rd place in district with a 2-2 record, and will face Post at home on Tuesday. Varsity will take on the Antelopes at 5pm, with the JV game to follow.
