The Chamber of Commerce held a Community Development meeting Thursday to discuss the Vision of Slaton. About 30 people attended the luncheon held at the City Hall. The initial project that is headed up by a select group of citizens, will research, development and implement community Gateway Makers on both ends of Slaton within areas of Highway 84. These maker-style signs, similar to ones that are at Post, Sweetwater and Abilene, would greet passersby as they travel up and down the highway encouraging them to visit our community. The gathering was led by Chamber of Commerce president, Mark Meurer. The group will meet every three months to continue with different projects.
