Volunteers Needed – Weekend Snack Program

Weekend Snack Program

Weekend Snack Program

by Lynette Swanner

I hope you all are having a great week.  Just wanted to touch base and let you all know where we stand on the upcoming school year.

First off, we have the food order placed, & will be needing volunteers to help with the pick up of the food, and unloading once we get back to Slaton.  At this time I DO NOT have a time or date for the pick up, but as soon as I hear from Tammy Hester I will let you all know.  We have increased our food purchase quite a bit, so we will need as many as we can find to help out.

Next on the list is why we have increased the food order..  I met today with Mrs. Andrus and Mrs. Kitten at CTE, and all is now in place for us to start our sack delivery to them at the beginning of the school year!  This is SO EXCITING!!!  I found out a heartbreaking detail in my conversation with these two ladies, the percentage of economically disadvantaged students in attendance at CTE is up to 87%!!!!!  Can you even imagine?  I’m shocked!  This is obviously the reason we are financial able to expand this program to include CTE.

We appreciate you all more than can possibly be expressed, all we can say is THANK YOU!!!

Hope to see you all soon!
