Food for Thought – Life’s a climb, but the view is great.

Just for Laughs – Through the pitch –black night, the captain sees a light dead ahead on a collision course with his ship. He sends a signal: “Change your course ten degrees east.” The light signals back: “Change yours ten degrees west.” Angry, the captain sends another signal: “I’m a navy captain! Change your course, sir!”

“I’m a seaman, second class,” comes the reply. “Change your course, sir.” Now the captain is furious. “I’m a battleship! I’m not changing course!” There is one last reply: “I’m a lighthouse. It’s your call.”

Let’s celebrate Mothers Day all month. Fill up our bulletin board with sayings, stories, and memories of our mothers. We will have paper and pens available for you to use.

Just for laughs- A man is walking from the lake carrying two fish in a bucket. He is approached by the game warden, who asks to see his fishing license.

The fisherman says to the warden, “I did not catch these fish; they are my pets. Every day I come down to the water and whistle, and these fish jump out, and I take them around to see the sights, only to return them at the end of day.”

The warden, not believing a word of it, reminds him that it is illegal to fish without a license. The fisherman turns to the warden and says, “If you don’t believe me, then just watch.” He then throws the fish into the water.

The warden says, “Now whistle to your fish and show me that they will come out of the water.”

     “What fish?” asks the fisherman.

Slaves to God, Pt 2 (Rom 6:15-23)

Curtis BakerBy: Curtis Baker

Last week, as we talked about Paul’s admonitions in Romans 6 to be “slaves to God,” we discussed the role that habits play in our spiritual formation. Many today often believe that willpower will be enough to lead a person away from sin and into a life of goodness, but for anyone who has tried to change their behavior simply by willpower alone, they already know the failure that lies along that path. Behaviors are rooted in our bodies through habits. These habits have been learned from our environment around us, as well as from our choices which have solidified our behavior. Habits, in most cases, are stronger than will power. So how do we break away from our slavery to sin and form the good habits of obedience to God?

Kids Weekend Snack Program – Good – Thank You!

Hi Y’all!  We just wanted to send a quick update on all that has taken place with the program this semester.  We have heard nothing but good feedback on the changes we’ve made in the food we are providing to the kids.  By us purchasing the food ourselves from Sams, Costco, etc., it allows us to give the kids more of a variety and it also helps us with inventory control, so it’s been a good change.  With the very generous donations made by 2 families we were able to provide gifts for the kiddos at SFA once again this year.  The kids were very excited about their games, and it helped to make their visit from Santa complete.  This is a very special time of year for the kids & it’s a true joy to be able to be a part of it.  We also provided 500 treat bags to the students at CTE.  These treat bags will be handed out at their Polar Express events that are coming up.  We thank you all for everything you do to help make this program possible, it takes the entire community joining together to make this work, so thank you all!!

Wishing you a very merry Christmas!
