LUBBOCK – The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will present the final Lubbock Outer Route Study report during the November 14, Lubbock Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) meeting.

The public is invited to attend the 8:30 a.m., Friday meeting and will be able to provide comments during the MPO’s regular comment period.

The final report wraps up a 15-month study to determine a Preferred Route for the proposed highway facility around Lubbock from US 84 northwest of Lubbock to US 84 southeast of Lubbock. The report summarizes the route study process—including traffic, societal and environmental analyses and public input/comments received during three public meetings held in February, June and August—and details the established final route.

The first phase of the Outer Route development, known as the Feasibility Study, concluded in 2010 with a finding of feasibility for a four-lane divided highway in 2030. TxDOT will now move onto the environmental documentation and schematic development phases of the proposed project. Both phases will also feature a series of public meetings.

Route study stakeholder and public meeting summaries, as well as fact sheets and frequently asked questions, are posted on the project website.

For media inquiries, contact TxDOT Media Relations at Dianah.Ascencio@txdot.gov or (806) 748-4472.
