Gabriela Olivares – Gold Key Award
A Gold Key – Local High School Student Honored
At Regional Art Competition
Slaton High School’s Gabriela Olivares, sophomore, was recognized this past weekend at the Scholastic Art and Writing Regional Competition for receiving a Gold Key Medal for her mosaic “Colorful Bloom.”
Gabriela’s composition was completed at the end of the 2012 – 2013 school years in Art Club, an after-school program offered to all students at the high school. She spent numerous hours hammering glass, gluing each piece individually and calculating the best placement in order to create the flower which is the emphasis of her composition.
