Donnie G. Holley

Holley, Donnie(Slaton) Donnie Gaylene Holley, 73, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, March 24, 2016. Chapel Services will be Saturday, March 26, 2016 at 2 PM in Englunds Chapel with Micah Hoke officiating.  Services are under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

Donnie was born September 3, 1942 in Lubbock Texas to Leonard and Vera Elsie (Upchurch) Haley.

Donnie grew up and graduated High School in Portales, NM. She met Bobby Holley and later married on April 17, 1959. After Bobby’s discharge form the Air Force in 1960; he and Donnie traveled back and forth to Virginia, finally settling in the Lubbock area. Donnie worked in the Accounting Industry as an Administrative Assistant She retired from Mason Warner & Company in 2007. Donnie was a Baptist.

Donnie was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years; Bobby Holley, February 1, 2016, and also by her brother Bob Haley of Lubbock. Those who will cherish her memory include her son Michael and wife Kelly of Ransom Canyon, daughter Patricia Holley McGovern and husband James of Galveston, two granddaughters, Cynthia (Micah) Hoke of Murfreesboro, TN and Candice (Herschel) Martin of Lubbock, along with two great granddaughters, Charis Hoke and Holley Martin. She is also survived by a brother Harold Haley and a sister Linda Walker both of Lubbock.

We will be having our annual open house April 23. We would appreciate any items you would like to donate for a silent auction, garage sale, or bake sale. Crafts that you make are great items.

We have a raffle going on for an oil painting by Ada May Culpepper. They are $1.00 a ticket or 6 for $5.00. Come by the center to see it and purchase your tickets. The drawing will be at the end of open house April 23.

Bingo on Monday had 26 players. The secret prize was won by Snow Arguello. The blackout amount of $44.47 was won by Sandy Goodner. Come join us for lunch next Monday and then stay to enjoy playing Bingo from 1-2.

We didn’t have anyone for our monthly 42 game. It being Spring break. The next monthly 42 game will be April 19.

We have a Caregiver library that can help in the care of someone with Alzheimer’s Disease, Dementia, Cancer, Diabetes, Parkinson’s Disease, and Stroke.

Upcoming events – Mark your calendar: Mon. (Mar. 21) HFF taking blood pressures. Bingo from 1-2. Tues. (Mar. 22) Calvert will be doing blood pressures. Wed. (Mar. 23) Birthday and Anniversary Day. On this day we celebrate birthdays of the month. If yours is this month, lunch is on us.

MOW deliveries for Mar. 21 – 25 is the responsibility of Bible Baptist Church. Closed Friday the 25th for Good Friday.
