Hey y’all,
Last Thursday our Boys went to Roosevelt to compete in the last chance for them to qualify for Regionals.
The Tigers competed very well, with 8 of them returning home with some hardware. They placed 2nd overall in the Team standings, just 5 points away from winning the team title.
1st place:
123’s- Philip Rocha
132’s- Gavin Schniers
181’s- Braxton Creager
2nd place:
114’s Jordan Garcia
132’s Santos Yanez
220’s Harley Simpson
275+ Alek Garcia
3rd Place:
114’s Desmond Williams
165’s Donovan Salazar
Also competing for Slaton were Javier Alcorta, Josh Flores, Austin Bramlett, Israel Rodriguez, Josh Salas, and Victor Soto.
Some of the highlights included
Philip Rocha breaking school records in his weight class (123’s) for the squat (305lbs) and bench press (170lbs);
Santos Yanez 132’s school record bench press (180lbs);
Braxton Creager 181’s in the bench press (260lbs)
Harley Simpson Squat (600lbs- overall school record), Total (1320lbs)
Alek Garcia 275+ Squat (555lbs)
If you haven’t seen it yet, there is a video of Harley’s 600lb squat on my Facebook, it’s one of my prouder moments as a coach for a kid who battles in the weight room every workout.
I will follow up shortly announcing our boy’s regional qualifiers.
Thank y’all very much & God bless
