Food for Thought – Spread some joy today.
Things to remember – Our quilt raffle, our MOW breakfast Saturday Aug. 16 from 8 – 9:30 and lunch served Monday thru Friday starting at 12:00.
Bingo on Monday had 22 players. The secret prize was won by Rufina Perez. The blackout amount of $60.52 was won by Monica Urias. Come join us for lunch next Monday and then stay and play Bingo.
Upcoming events – Mark your calendars! Friday (Aug 15) Tai Chi Class 11:00. Saturday (Aug. 16) MOW breakfast 8 – 9:30. Monday (Aug. 18) HFF from 10-12. Bingo from 1-2. Friday (Aug. 22) Amy from Calvert will be here singing at lunch time.
Just for Laughs – Trapped! An elderly golfer showed up at the course one morning without a partner. The pro agreed to play 18 holes with him, and asked him what kind of a player he was.
“Not too bad, I guess,” the old duffer answered.
“But I have a little trouble getting out of sand traps.”
They played a close game, and the older gentleman managed to avoid sand traps until they reached the 18th hole. His shot to the green dropped into the trap, and he’d have to sink his ball into the hole with just one shot to win the game.
The pro watched as the elderly golfer carefully stepped into the trap, looked the situation over, and swung his club. To the pro’s amazement, the ball went right into the cup.
“Great shot!” the pro said. “I thought you said you have trouble getting out of sand traps?”
“I do. Could you give me a hand, please?”
Mow deliveries for Aug. 4 – 8 were done by Bible Baptist Church. Those who served were Beverly Frazier, Anita King, Donovan Reader, Linda Goodwin, Courtney Franklin Mickie Fondy, Earl Barksdale, Richard Edwards, and David Jenkins.
Mow deliveries for Aug. 18 –22 is the responsibility of Gudalupe Catholic Church.
