Irene Catherine Steffens
(Slaton) Rosary services for Irene Catherine Steffens, 94, of Slaton will be 6:30 PM Tuesday, January 12, 2016 in Englunds Chapel. Celebration of life service will be 10 AM, Wednesday, January 13, 2016 in Slaton’s St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Joseph Palacios officiating. Burial will follow in Englewood Cemetery under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.
Irene was born November 20, 1921, in Slaton, TX. to Henry Gerhard and Anna Sophia (Kitten) Hollinden. She passed from this life January 8th, 2016 in Lubbock.
She attended St. Joseph Catholic School. On September 9th, 1947 she married Tony Steffens in St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was a homemaker to a farming family. Irene was preceded in death by Tony in March of 2002.
She was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters of America for 70 years.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters Cindy and husband Art Norman of Lubbock, and Julia and husband John Goedel of Slaton, a sister Sally McLoud of South Palm Beach, Florida, along with five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.In lieu the family suggests memorials to Catholic Family Services, or a favorite charity.
