Fundraiser for Isaac Dabila at SHS – TONIGHT!
There will be a basketball game fundraiser held for Isaac Dabila on November 7th at 7PM. The game will be the Slaton Police Department playing against the Slaton Fire Department. The entry fee is $5 for adults and $3 for students (age 4 and under is free). There will be a silent auction during the game and local businesses can donate by contacting Dustin Brown 632-5337
Edward Franklin Kilcrease
Edward Franklin Kilcrease SLATON-Frank Kilcrease, 90, of New Braunfels, formerly of Lubbock passed away Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016. A family visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, 2016, at Englunds Funeral Service Church. Services will be Saturday, 10:30 a.m. Nov. 5, 2016, in St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Lubbock. Interment will follow in Lubbock’s Resthaven Cemetery under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton. Edward Franklin Kilcrease was born Aug. 21, 1926, in Bowie, Texas, to William Edward (Edd) and Bessie McCartney Kilcrease. He graduated from Bowie High School in 1944 and entered the U.S. Navy, serving in WWII, two years in the Pacific and on Guam as an electrician. Returning home he attended Texas Technological College for two years before transferring to North Texas State University and graduating in 1950. He taught basic electricity to aircraft mechanics at Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls before being recalled into the Korean War in 1952 serving four more years. His last assignment was in Germany as a communications officer. Frank served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves for 38 years, retiring with the rank of Major in 1986. Frank worked as an Electrical Engineer for Lubbock Power and Light for six years. He then switched over to South Plains Electric Cooperative, for 29 years retiring in 1991. Frank married Wynelle Alspaugh in 1953. She preceded him in death in 1995. He later married Betty Trimble in 1996, and she preceded him in death in 2008. Frank was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church and the John Wesley Sunday School Class. His survivors include two daughters, Mary Jane Kabaci and husband, Mark of Lawrenceville, GA, Lou Ann Ritter and husband, Mark of New Braunfels; three grandchildren, Jenna Kabaci, Jake Ritter, and Corey (Crissy) Ritter; and two stepchildren, Aaron (Sue) Trimble, and Sana Marzella . The family suggests memorials to Meals on Wheels of Lubbock, 2304 34th Street, Lubbock, TX 79411, or National Parkinson Foundation, 200 Southeast 1st Street, Suite # 800, Miami, FL, 33131.
