We will be having flu shots here October 4th 11-12 by Calvert Home Health.

Our Meals on Wheels Breakfast Saturday brought in $490. Thank you very much to Raymond Garcia, Jeannette Bradford, Jo Lacy, Sandy Goodner, and Janis King for working the breakfast.  Thanks to Mary Galindo for ordering the food for the breakfast. Thanks to those who came and made a donation.

We had one table for 42 on the 20th.  Darris and Wayne Linder, Janis King and Imogene Davis had lots of fun.

Bingo on Monday had 25 players.  The secret prize was won by Sandy Goodner.  The blackout amount of $43.67 was won by Nina Thomas. Come next week for lunch and have a lot of fun.

THIS Friday, September 30, is the next 5th Friday Slaton on the Square from 6 – 9 p.m.!

In Between, Slaton Museum and Antique Mall, Quilts ‘n More, and City Hall will be open from 10am to 9pm showcasing Slaton’s Cotton Picking Quilters Guild! Multiplicity Art Gallery is featuring NEW drawings by Slaton’s own Yvonne Armitage Greene, 25 Story Quilts by Marilyn Brown and Art Dolls by Linda and Skip Crawford!Fused glass artist Judy Connell Robertson will be showcasing her NEWEST works of art as well.

Along with photographers Christena Stephens, Willa Finley and Jerry Thompson, potters Roger Holmes, Wayne Greene and Tom Hicks, mixed media artists Jennifer Greer and Carol Koenig, fused glass artist and watercolorist Judy Robertson, mosaic artist Marsha Davis, drawings by Yvonne Greene, native American jewelry by Little Eagle, and equestrian oil painter Susan Sheets.

In the parking space in front of In Between gallery and V Squared Gallery, there will be a Steam Roller Woodcut Printing Demonstration. Texas Tech printmaking professor Stacy Elko will be overseeing a demonstration of printing large woodcut block prints by running over the woodcuts with a steam roller. Woodcuts by Professor Elko, TTU graduate and undergrad printmaking students, along with students form Slaton ISD, and Frenship ISD.

Charles B. Schniers

 
 c-b-schniers  (Slaton)  Rosary services for Charles B. “C.B.” Schniers, 82, of Slaton will be 6:30 PM Tuesday, September 27, 2016 in Englunds Chapel.       Celebration of life service will be 10 AM, Wednesday, September 28, 2016 in Slaton’s St. Joseph Catholic Church with Monsignor Bernard Gully officiating. Burial will follow in Englewood Cemetery under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

   C.B. was born January 6, 1934, in Miles, TX to Alphonse and Amalia (Book) Schniers He passed from this life September 24, 2016 in Slaton.
 C.B. graduated from St. Joseph Catholic School in Rowena, TX. and began his farming career in the San Angelo area before moving to Slaton in November of 1954 and continued in Cotton Farming until retiring in 2011. C.B. married Dorothy Mae Buxkemper on August 10, 1954 in Slaton. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church; a 3rd degree life member of Slaton’s Knights of Columbus and served on the Slaton Coop Gin Board for a number of years. C.B. served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1962.

C.B. was preceded in death by his parents, a brother James Schniers and a grandson Joshua in 1993.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Dorothy Mae of the home, a daughter, Karla Schniers and a son Craig and wife Angela Schniers; all of Slaton, along with 8 grandchildren and one great grandchild

In lieu the family suggests memorials to to St. Joseph Catholic Church, or your favorite charity
