Jose T. Soto

Jose Soto (Obit and Pic)(Slaton) Rosary Service for Jose “Chako” Torres Soto, 76, of Slaton, will be Sunday, August 14, 2016 at 6:30 P.M.
in Englunds Chapel.  Mass Service will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Monday, August 12, 2016 in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Rev. Chacko Thadathil, officiating. Graveside will follow in Englewood Cemetery under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

Jose was born July 6, 1940, in Caldwell, TX to Trinidad Soto, Sr. and Felicita Torres. He attended school in Caldwell and soon moved to Post TX to work. Jose married Ester Pina on August 5, 2005 in Lubbock TX.   Jose worked for Brown-McKee for 38 years, and later worked for Sanders Fertilizer at the time of his death.  He was preceded in death by his mother Felicita Torres.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Ester P. Soto, his 3 children, 5 children by marriage, 13 brothers and sisters, a host of nieces and nephews, and his father, Trinidad Soto Sr, of Idalou, TX.

Clara Waugh Rempe

CRClara Waugh Rempe passed away at 11:30 p.m. on August, 9 2016 at Slaton Care Center after battling cancer for 11 years.

Church service will be Thursday, Aug 11, at 2:00 PM at First United Methodist Church, Slaton.

She was born June 11, 1955 in Denver, Co.  When Clara started the 7th grade she and her family moved to Slaton, TX where she grew up.  She graduated from Slaton High School in 1972 then went on to pursue a nursing career and studied at Methodist School of Nursing, Texas Tech University, and St. Josephs College.  Clara built a career in nursing as an ER nurse, floor nurse, charge nurse, and then went onto home health care and case management.  She retired in 2005.

In 1991 Clara met Kent Rempe and the two of them were married in August of 1992.

She is survived by her mother Gerry Waugh, her husband Kent and two stepsons Brent, his wife Sharon and their two children Isabella and Caleb and Kyle, his Fiancé LaRae and their daughter Kennedy.   She will be greatly missed.

Rudy Garcia

 Rudy Garcia (Obit and Pic)(Slaton) A Memorial Mass Service for Rudy Garcia, 48, of Lubbock will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 12th, 2016 in Slaton’s Our Lady of Guadalupe Cathloic Church with Rev. Chacko Thadathil, officiating.  Graveside will follow in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Cemetery.

Rudy was born April 24th, 1968 in Slaton, Texas to Adolfo and Maria (Barrera) Garcia.  He graduated from Slaton High School, and pursed a career in the Food service industry, as a Chef. He worked for many of the Chains and some independents as well .He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Rudy was preceded in death by his father, Adolfo, and two sisters, Linda Gonzales, Nora Vasquez, and his step-daughter Francesca Rameriz .

Those left to cherish his memory are his mother Maria Garcia, his daughters Angel Garcia of Lubbock and Monica Garcia of Slaton, step-daughters Jennifer Rameriz of Southland,  Adriana Hastings of Lubbock, Destiny Castillo of Slaton  along with four brothers, Adolf of Georgia, Jerry of Slaton, Randy , and  Chris Garcia of Woodrow,  six sisters ,Sandra Garcia of Wilson , Olivia and husband Josh Wood of New Braunsfel, Diana Garcia of Abilene, Christina Gueverra of L. A., CA. Norma Chappa of Woodrow and Melinda Garcia of Lubbock.
