Steve Richie – Slaton Radio Personality – Passes at 61

by “Mark Allen” Meurer

“Good Morning! I’m Steve Richie and I’m Mark Allen! You’re listening to The Richie Gang Morning Show” This was our intro for four years together at 6:05 AM on KSSL. Yesterday was the last time I would see my friend and radio associate. Steve Richie joins Lou Dee, Hoyle Nix, Merle Haggard, George Jones and other radio and music legends in The Promised Land. We had fun while On The Air together. One Way Wanda, Jessie, Cory the Caboose, Drama Mama, Jacqui Neal, and Spike the Mic, Susanne Abbey, Cathy Whitten all added their personality to The Richie Gang Morning Show during our four years together. Steve ran the “tightest board in West Texas” with his life-time experience. He lived “radio” every minute. I will miss you until we meet again. Peace & Prayers – “Mark Allen”
