SLATON DAY TRIP

Enjoy some interesting & cultural activities in Slaton, TX! The first stop will be at the Slaton Bakery for coffee & donuts. We will make our way to The Harvey House, where we will tour The Harvey House and enjoy a presentation & book signing by author Rosa Latimer; author of Harvey Houses of Texas, Harvey Houses of New Mexico & Harvey Houses of Kansas. She will have copies of her book available for purchase for $20.00. Lunch will be provided by The Harvey House . After lunch we will visit Town Square Antique Mall, Multiplicity Art Gallery, Texas Air Museum, & Model Train Museum. As we head back to Lubbock we will make a stop at Ransom Canyon,  to see the Robert Bruno Steel House & the “Ice cream” House. We will depart  Wal-Mart ‘s east parking lot, (S. Loop 289 & Quaker Ave.)  at  8:00am. Cost per person is $45, which includes lunch, activities, & transportation.

 

RAGTOWN THEATER (POST, TX)

The Ragtown Theater’s spring show presents, “The Carpenter’s Son”. Joseph has been dead for two years, and Jesus, now almost 20 years old, has been the breadwinner and head of the household. The play focuses on the trials of bringing up younger siblings, especially James, who is resentful of Jesus and Mary’s special relationship. We will enjoy lunch at Chapa’s Family Restaurant before the show! We will depart Wal-Mart’s east  side parking lot, (S. Loop 289 & Quaker Ave.) at noonCost per person is $60, which includes lunch, show & transportation

Painting with a Twist – March 19 @ Harvey House

If you’ve ever been to Painting with a Twist, you’ll love Crazy Canvas! It is a small town, instructor-led class (super-casual) where you create your masterpiece!

I am holding our first one at an inaugural rate of $20 per person, and providing ice water, cheese and crackers, and grapes. You are welcome to bring a beverage of choice if you like. Cups are provided.

Charles M. Edmunds

(Slaton) Charles M. Edmunds, 88, went to be with his Heavenly Father, Sunday, March 6th, 2016. Chapel Services will be Friday, March 11, 2016 at 11 AM in Englunds Chapel with Bill Jernigan officiating.  Services are under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton. The family will have a visitation from 6 to 7:30 PM Thursday at Englunds.

Charles was born July 21, 1927 in Post, Texas to Martin Chris and Esther Irene (Johns) Edmunds. He graduated Slaton High School. Charles entered the U.S. Army in 1945, serving in Germany during WWII. Returning from the service he began his career as a heavy equipment mechanic for Case in 1950 and retiring in 1993. Farming his 40 acres and camping during retirement were his entertainment.  Charles married Marilee Roche on June 6th, 1992 in Waxahachie, Texas.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Slaton.

Those who will cherish his memory include his wife, Marilee of the home, daughters Lori and  husband Boyd Smith, Dana and husband Mike Yamber both of Nebraska, sons, Gary and wife Becky Edmunds of Florida, Terry and wife Lee Ann Edmunds of York, Nebraska, step-daughters Vicki and husband Jerry Defoore of Lubbock, Kale Williams of Slaton, Lundie and Mike Dyer of Louisville, KY, and Step-son Tom and Patty Roche of Whitney , TX, brother Glen and Tina Edmunds of Houston and sister Jean Arthur of Louisiana, along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
