It’s just around the corner and St Joseph has begun preparation for the 47th Annual Sausage Festival and October Fest. The celebration is set annually on the 3rd weekend of October! Sausage Festival and Oktoberfest, October 14th, 15th, and 16th!
SLATON – 47th Annual Sausage Festival and Oktoberfest – October 14, 15, & 16
For 47 years now, a secret-recipe German sausage has been served in Slaton at Saint Joseph Hall.
Those 47 years of German sausage-making will culminate in a feast on Sunday, October 16, when the Saint Joseph Sausage Festival and Funfest is held there once again. Dinner is served at Saint Joseph Hall – 21st and Division (FM 41) Streets, Slaton – from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The main menu consists of German sausage made by St Joseph parishioners, Knights of Columbus Council 2571 grilled chicken, homemade German potato salad, green beans, and homemade cakes and bread.
Adult plates are $10.00 and children’s plates are $6.00. Take-out plates will be available at the south side of the hall.
Funfest, Sunday, October 16, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m., will be celebrated at Saint Joseph School. The Funfest includes silent and live auctions, bingo, games, music, food, quilt show, rock wall and spider climb, country store, a mini-bazaar, and raffles for quilts, electronics, United groceries, a cedar chest, and more.
Sausage (cured and vacuum sealed) will be sold by the pound at Saint Joseph Hall on Saturday, October 15, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Regular Sausage, $5.00/lb.; Jalapeño Sausage, $6.00/lb.; and, Habanero Sausage, $6.50/lb. All forms of payment accepted!
AGAIN THIS YEAR! Oktoberfest on Friday, October 14th, from 5 p.m. until 11 p.m.: Ronnie Eaton, Drake Hayes Band, and Dave Martinez will be performing. Bring a chair and an appetite! Beer and wine, soft drinks, and food will be available for purchase. $10 cover. All forms of payment accepted.
