Lucille “Dee Dee”” Caldwell Mullins

dee-dee-caldwellLucille Dee Dee Caldwell Mullins, of Slaton passed away Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016, after a brief illness. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016, in Englewood Cemetery with Dr. Cleve Kerby officiating, under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton. Dee Dee Mullins was born on the family farm near Slaton on Sept. 17, 1930, to James Andrew Andy and Lula Lavenia (Carter) Caldwell. She was the youngest of ten children born to the Slaton pioneer family. She was preceded in death by nine siblings, John Lee Wilson, Ethel Cain, Edna Boatright, Edward Caldwell, Dolly Brown, Carter Caldwell, Lula Hancock, Anna Belle Foerster, and Dora Housour. Mullins attended Slaton Schools. She made her home in Slaton and was actively involved in farming. She enjoyed painting, interior decorating and gardening. She was preceded in death by her daughter Machele Mullins Miller in June of 2015. Dee Dee is survived by her son, Randall M. Mullins of Salisbury, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
