SPOTLIGHTING SENIORS
By Janet James

Food for Thought – The number one problem in our country is apathy…but y\who cares!

On B and A Day we had 5 Birthday Celebrants. They were Gretta Cooper(90 yrs young), Billy Biggs, Beverly Droemer, Jimmy Pettigrew (92 yrs young), and Joe Downs. Those celebrating anniversaries were Laurence and Janis King (55 yrs) and Jimmy and Charlotte O’Connell (45 yrs). Steve Campbell stood in for both Laurence and Jimmy. My question is did he get two pieces of cake. Congratulations to all celebrants!

We had 3 tables for bridge. Those playing were Jolene Fondy, Sandra Voigt, Max Robertson, Steve Campbell, Jo Ann Williams, Troyce Wood, Pat Davis, Rob Hiner, Ralph Bravoco, J. D. Zinck, Marge Zinck and Wendel Day. The winners were J. D. Zinck, Marge Zinck.

On Friday Amy from Calvert entertained us with song. We always enjoy her music. Amy comes every fourth Friday. If you missed her this time come for lunch next month (July 25) and hear what you have been missing.

Bingo on Monday had 19 players. The secret prize was won by Nieves Arguello. The blackout amount of $46.10 was split by Joyce Clark and John Ramirez. Come join us for lunch next Monday and stay to play Bingo.

Upcoming events – Mark your calendars! Friday (July 4) closed for holiday – see you at the park. Monday (July 7) HFF from 10-12. Bingo from 1-2. Tuesday (July 8) Calvert from 11-12. Thursday (July 10) balloon volleyball starting at 1:00.

Just for Laughs – A tourist was driving down a desert road and came upon a sign that said, Road Closed. Do not enter. He thought the road looked passable, so he ignored the sign and continued driving down the road.

A mile later, he came to a bridge that was out. He turned around and drive back in the direction he came from. As he approached the warning sign, he read on the other side. Welcome Back. Told you so!

Mow deliveries for June 23 – 27 were done by St. Joseph Catholic Church. Those who served were Robert Hurst, Rosemarie Hurst, Diane Wall, Lena Maldonado, Loretta Kitten, Arlene Steffens, Ronald Schilling, Edward Gaydos, and Donovan Reder.

MOW deliveries for July 7 – July 11 is the responsibility of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
