“Teams,..on your mark,..get set,..cook!” Join us at the Slaton Park for great tasting barbeque on Saturday, August 17th at the 4th Annual Cook For The Cure BBQ Cook-Off. Proceeds raised benefit the American Diabetes Association. Cook teams compete for prize money in brisket, ribs, cook’s choice and outlaw beans categories. Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion will be awarded. Dine with us during the All-You-Can-Eat starting at 4:30pm while area musicians perform on the outdoor stage. Tickets are $10 a person. The Street Dance begins at 9pm featuring the Danielle Henzler Band, tickets are $10 each.

Powerlifting Regional Meet Results

Quick Highlights of the Boys Regional Meet
Saturday March 14th, the Boy’s Powerlifting Team had 8 boys compete as qualifiers or alternates.
Freshman Philip Rocha finished in 8th place in the 114lb weight class with lifts of 250lbs squat, 155lbs Bench (personal best), and 285lb deadlift (personal best).
Junior Braxton Creager finished in 8th place in the 181’s with lifts if 415lb squat, 225lb bench, and a 475lb deadlift (personal best).
Senior David Camargo finished in 10th place in the 220’s with lifts of 455 (personal best), 250lb bench (personal best), and a 410lb deadlift.
Junior Harley Simpson finished in 9th place in the 220’s with a 450lb squat, 265lb bench (personal best), and a 405lb deadlift.
Senior Marcial Salinas finished in 8th place in the 242’s with a 470lb squat, 230lb bench, and a 470lb deadlift
Freshman Alek Garcia finished in 9th place in the 275+’s with lifts of 425lb squat, 180lb bench, and a 440lb deadlift.
AJ Garcia did not record any lifts due to technical error in the squat.
Sophomore Tyler Johnson tied for 3rd place in the 148lb weight class, and received the 4th place medal (tiebreaker was the heavier lifter). His lifts of 460lb squat (more than triple bodyweight), 210lb bench, and a 405lb deadlift were all personal bests.
“It’s been a pleasure working with these young men, and they all got what they deserved. I know it gave many of them an outlet for time and energy, and they were happy to experience success in an individual manner. The future is bright with these kids, and I thank you all for your support of them.”
