Powerlifting Regional Level Meet Saturday

by Hunter Henzler

Just a reminder to everyone that 8 of our athletes will be competing at the Powerlifting Regional level meet Saturday at Sundown High School. Sundown is only about an hour away, for those of you unfamiliar. It is an easy trip from both Lubbock and Slaton.

Philip Rocha (9th place), Tyler Johnson (4th), Braxton Creager (8th), Harley Simpson (8th), David Camargo(12th), Marcial Salinas(12th), Alek Garcia(12th), and AJ (Ascencion) Garcia (12th) will all be representing the Tiger Nation.

Lifting will begin at 9am, so if you plan on going, arrive a little early to give you an opportunity for better seating. Philip & Tyler will lift on the 1st platform; Harley, Braxton & David on the 2nd platform; and Marcial, Alek, and AJ on the 3rd platform.

It is $5 entry for spectators, and Sundown will have a full concession stand available. There are also many good restaurants in Levelland only about 20 minutes away.

We have 2 boys who legitimately have a shot at being Regional Medalist’s, and 2 more who will be lifting in their last meet at Slaton Tigers. Please consider coming to support our kids, and if you cant do that, please keep them in your thoughts & prayers during this time.

Weekly Techie Tip #011 Hire An Expert

Computer Running Slow – Sluggish…
Bring your computer into one of our experts.

Many folks just don’t comprehend what it takes to keep a computer running smoothly.  The experts even have their challenges too.  Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and clean the system up, or should I say… clean it out.  Running a multi-scan on the computer could be the solution.  Sometimes it might take reformatting the system.  This is where an expert comes into the picture.  You might have to spend a few dollars and drop your computer off at our shop.  Generally it takes a couple of days or so to make the computer hum again.  System clean ups range anywhere from $45 – $90 – $150.  I wish it were cheaper than that, but that is just what it takes.  The process is a hurry-up and wait process as we go through your computer.  Programs have to run at their own pace.  This takes several hours of a few minutes here at there and then wait on the software to to its job.  My personal cell phone number is 806.789.8456.

Landmark Is Moving – F.D. Sexton Yellow House

FD Sexton HomeYears ago, as you drove down the dirt road… the landmark for the road was the F.D. Sexton house. The road later became paved and is now known as 20th street.  The house clearly visible with it’s yellow color stood as a marker also for Panhandle Street. Within the next few days the home will find a new location across from Cathlene Thomas Elementary School.  Melissa Buxkemper, Sexton’s grand daughter, shared some fun stories and has many wonderful memories about growing up on the Sexton farm.  The memories will stay with her as the house moves to another place for someone to call home.
