Marriage & Divorce Pt 3

CurtisBakerA MESSAGE FROM THE HEART
Marriage and Divorce, Pt 3 (Matt 5:31-32)
By: Curtis Baker

After a week’s hiatus, we return to our study on the Sermon on the Mount, and in particular, to our discussion about the thorny issue of divorce.  In my previous two articles about Jesus’ teaching on divorce, I have tried to address both the importance of lifelong fidelity in marriage, as well as cultural assumptions of that day that lie behind Jesus’ teaching.

Food for Thought – When everything is coming your way, you’re in the wrong lane.

The monthly 42 game had 2 tables of players. Those who played were Sandy Goodner, Jo Lacy, Eunice Montgomery, Imogene Davis, Albert Rinne, Bob Adams, Dwayne Walters, and Steve Colleps. Let’s shoot for 3 tables next month.

The weather last week kept some people from coming to the center. We still had domino and pool players every morning. Way to go guys!

Bingo on Monday had 22 players waiting to yell Bingo. The secret prize was won by Snow Arguello. The blackout amount of $45.12 was won by Diana Walker. We play Bingo every Monday starting at 1:00. Come join us and have fun playing Bingo.

Upcoming events – Mark your calendar! – Friday (Jan. 30 & Feb. 27) Amy from Calvert will entertain us with song starting at 11:45. Monday (Feb. 2) HFF from 10-12 – Bingo from 1-2. It is also “Ground Hog Day.”

Just for Laughs –It was raining, the windshield had mud splattered on it, and the car had almost collided with another vehicle twice. The hitchhiker was beginning to wish that the driver hadn’t picked him up.
“Don’t you think you should wipe off the windshield?” asked the passenger.
“Oh, no,” said the motorist with a smile. “That wouldn’t do a bit of good. I left my glasses at home.”

SPOTLIGHTING SENIORS

Just for Laughs – A man at the construction site was bragging that he was stronger than anyone else. He began making fun of one of the older workman. After several minutes, the older man had had enough.

“I’ll bet I can haul something in a wheelbarrow over to the other building that you won’t be able to wheel back.”

“Okay,” the young man replied. “Let’s see what you’ve got.”

The older man reached out and grabbed the wheelbarrow by the handles. Then he looked at the young man and said with a smile, “All right get in.”

Please bear with us for the next few weeks. We are in the process of making floors ready for installation of tile. Some tables and furniture will not be in use. Thank you for your patience.
