New Book – Best Selling Author and Vietnam Veteran

Former Slatonite Dennis Brooks, Best Selling Author and Vietnam Veteran who received 2 Bronze Stars for Valor, 28 air medals, 2 Purple Hearts and a Congressional Life Saving Medal had a book signing at The Slaton Bakery on Saturday June 14th.  Many people were on hand.  Some of which came all the way from Snyder Tx.  In addition, Mayor Dubbin Englund presented Mr. Brooks with a “Key To The City” for his sacrifices and service to his country during Vietnam and for documenting it in his Best Selling Book titled “Above it All.”  If you missed the book signing, they are available for purchase at The Slaton Bakery.  Proceeds benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project.

Help Wanted: Mercy Retreat Center – Kitchen/Cook

helpKitchen Help Wanted:  Mercy Retreat Center is looking for someone to help cook and prepare 3 meals most weekends for groups of 35-85 people. Meals are Friday Night, Saturday Noon, Saturday Night.   • Jimmie Johnson won the NASCAR Quicken Loans 400 auto race at Michigan International Speedway.
  • LA Kings beat the NY Rangers to win the Stanley Cup over the weekend.
  • The USA plays Ghana in the World cup at 5pm today
