Food for Thought – One positive thought can change your whole day!
Just for Laughs – While on a road trip, an elderly couple stopped at a roadside restaurant for lunch. After finishing their meal, they left the restaurant and resumed their trip.
Unfortunately, the elder woman had left her glasses on the table, and she didn’t miss them until after they had been driving about thirty minutes. Then to add to the aggravation, they had to travel quite a distance farther before they could find a place to turn around.
All the way back, the elderly husband fussed and scolded his wife.
They finally arrived at the restaurant, and as the woman got out of the car and hurried inside to retrieve her glasses, the man yelled to her, “While you’re in there, you might as well get my hat, too.”
On Friday Amy from Calvert entertained us with song during lunch. If you were not here you really missed out. Amy sang a variety of songs. Everyone enjoyed the singing. Amy will be back.
Southland Track District/Area Results

The Southland Track Teams competed at the District/Area meet on Wednesday and Thursday. These athletes did a tremendous job! They competed in everything, not just participated. In stressful and exhausting situations, each of them “gutted up” and made all of us very proud of their performance. Several of them will be competing at the Regional Track Meet in Levelland on April 25 and 26. A big pat on the back to all these kids and their coaches!!

Baptism and the Red Sea (Rom 6:1-4)

When I was a kid one of my favorite movies was the famous Charlton Hesston epic about Moses. Every Easter, the movie would play on Sunday night. We always had church on Sunday night, so I usually missed the opening parts of the movie, but that didn’t really bother me because the scene I wanted to see was the parting of the Red Sea. Looking back on it now, with all the modern technology that makes movies so realistic, the 1950’s technology that split the waters on our television screens looks rather amateur. But at the time, it filled my child like mind with wonder as the water parted on each side. Somehow, in a grand miracle only God could perform, the Israelites crossed the floor of the Red Sea on dry ground while Pharaoh and his army were in hot pursuit to stop them. But just as the last Israelite crossed onto the opposite bank and Moses lowered his staff, the waters came crashing down drowning all of the Egyptians in its flood. It was a great moment of deliverance for God’s people, and I never tired of watching it with wonder.

Clean Up #3 Set May 17
Hi All,
Reminder we have set the date for the third clean up on May 17. We will begin at 10 a.m. and wrap it up around 12 p.m. Slaton Lions club has graciously volunteered to serve burgers and dogs.
We will clean up from 84 and industrial blvd back towards City Hall.
I know it is over a month away, however I have already had several ask me when we were doing it again. So start looking for volunteers.
