Food for thought – If all is not lost, where is it?

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  We had a short week at the center.  Due to weather and holiday we were only open on Tue. and Wed.

Since we were closed on Monday we played Bingo on Tuesday.  There were 14 players.  The secret prize was won by Valerie Alva. The blackout amount of $36.30 was won by Monica Urias.

Another Christmas Season

cb1By: Curtis Baker

Over the last several months at the Hearts Together Church of Christ, we have been studying together on Sunday morning the subject of heaven and the afterlife. To me, this is a very fascinating kind of study because you get to talk about things that you know, as well things that you don’t know. This is different than studying history where you merely reconstruct things that have already happened; when talking about the afterlife, you are trying to speak of realities that have not taken place yet; at least, not among us who are living. But in many ways it is appropriate to discuss this subject during the Christmas season, because Christmas, when it is best understood, is the season that teaches us how to anticipate the second coming of Christ.

Southland Early Release Today 12.05.2013

from Toby Miller (email)

Due to the weather, Southland ISD will be releasing early today.  Students will be released at 11:30am.  Buses will leave Southland at 11:30am and run on pavement only.   We will run one bus directly to Slaton, another directly to Post and another to the country stops.

If you would like to pick up your students early, you are welcomed to do so.  Otherwise, please make arrangements to get your student at their respective bus stop.

Also, the basketball tournament at Meadow has been cancelled and the players are currently making their way back to Southland.

Please be careful on the roads.

Thank you.
