Singing Defiance to the World (Eph 5:3-20)

One of the great imperatives of Christian life is the act of singing together. Have you wondered why this is such an important part of our life together? Why don’t we just come together and read? Or why don’t we just speak to one another? When you think about the action itself it seems strange. Here is a group of people staring at the back of one another’s heads while putting words to melody. What’s the purpose in this? And yet, twice Paul tells us of the importance of singing to one another. (Eph 5:19; Col 3:16)

In time of need their will is sure
American, their freedom pure
Protect our life and liberty
Unselfishly, they keep us free
Each soldier knows what is at stake
The risk is grave, there’s no mistake
With pride they serve our country strong
They face each foe to come along
Remember them while in your home
Or where you choose to freely roam
Don’t take for granted what you see
Some left this life, so it could be
To God I urge you all to pray
For soldier’s brave, to face each day
We should be thankful, one and all

Congratulations to our Tigers who (for the first time in 7 years) reached their playoff goal last night by defeating Kermit 35-14. The Tigers will be playing Bushland at West Texas A&M in Canyon at 8pm.
On Thursday night. We need everyone’s help in making Thursday a huge day for our players and fans. We will have a pep rally at 1:30 for all students. Please help us spread the word about send off at 2:30. This is an opportunity to create positive memories. Thank you!
