SPOTLIGHTING SENIORS

Sr CitizensBy Janet James

Food for thought – Always remember that you’re unique.  Just like everyone else.

Have you written your note about your father? There is still time to write it and post it on our bulletin board. We still have room for your story or saying.

Our condolences go out to the family of Alice Hancock.  She was a sweet little lady.  We miss you Alice.

Here it is Monday again and that must mean Bingo-Bingo. There were 26 people hoping to win a prize. The secret prize was won by Diane Walker. The Blackout amount of $43.77 was split by John Ramirez, Ada May Culpepper, and Pat Dawson.

Upcoming events – Mark your calendars! Monday (June 17) HFF will be here from 11-12 to check your BP, blood sugar (BS) and weight. Bingo from 1-2.  Monday (June 24) Bingo from 1-2. Tuesday (June 25) Calvert will be here from 11-12 to check your BP. Wednesday (June 26) B & A Day-Bridge at 1:00.

Just for laughs –   One morning a woman said to her husband, “I bet you don’t know what day this is.”
“Of course I do,” he indignantly answered, going out the door on his way to the office.
At 11:00, the doorbell rang, and when the woman answered it, she was handed a box containing a dozen long-stemmed red roses.
At 1:00, a foil-wrapped box of her favorite chocolates arrived.
Later in the afternoon, a boutique delivered a designer dress.
The woman couldn’t wait for her husband to come home.  “First the flowers, then the candy, and then the dress!” she exclaimed when he walked in the door. “I’ve never had a more wonderful groundhog day in my whole life!”

Weekly Techie Tip #008

Zane The Tech Manby Zane the Tech Man   Slaton Tech Ph 329-0312  slatontech@gmail.com

Have you ever had a friend or family member that you would consider a geek or maybe even a nerd? They have collections of things that you have no idea what they are or why someone would spend money on. So when it comes time for a birthday or Christmas you want to get them something amazing but have no idea where to even start looking?

Thinkgeek.com has been around for a very long time and does nothing but specailize in the “needless awesomeness”. They have things for collectors of every kind of sci-fi genre, superheroes, Star Trek even Dr. Who. My favorite section of this site is the gadgets. They make the most ridiculous alarm clocks that make sounds loud enough to wake your neighbors or even simulate an earthquake. Sporks made out of titanium or a bottle opener that opens like a butterfly knife. This site is nothing less than a nerd’s dream come true.

A LOOMING COWBOYS DISASTER?

by Glenn Branscum Blog

MR. JONES SCARED OF… (DEZ) RAY RICE TYPE INCIDENT?

Some things make absolutely no-sense until… they make total-sense. And, I am sure hoping that the Dallas Cowboys management has not been sandbagging the Dez Bryant contract because they know more than just the something that has only been speculation up and until now.

Here’s what I am writing about:

“I don’t even know that the tape exists,” Florio said of the video. “That’s just the chatter … that there’s video of some incident that the Cowboys are afraid is going to come out and have a Ray Rice-type impact on Dez Bryant over the long-haul.”
